GUSD School Board Recognizes Students

At the March 13th meeting over 100 students were recognized for Perfect Attendance for the fall portion of the 2011-12 school year.  We realize that students cannot avoid illness and emergencies, but we wanted to recognize those students and the parents that supported attending school regularly and made every effort to make sure that appointments and family events did not intefer with education.  Thank you.  As educators and Board Members, we know that even with the best programs in the world, if students are not attending classes, they will not reach their full potential.  Congratulations to the 80 students from La Gloria Elementary, the 71 students from Fairview Middle School, the 14 students from Gonzales High School and the 1 student from Somavia and thank you parents!

Gonzales Unified School District Budget Report - "Positive"

Assistant Superintendent of Business Services Sara Perez presented a report on the current GUSD financial state at the March 13, 2012 GUSD Board of Trustees meeting.  Because GUSD has been very conservative with expenditures and also in maintaining a reserve for economic uncertainties; GUSD is able to continue to certify its financial status as "Positive" in being able to meet this year's and the next two year's financial obligations while still providing quality education to our students.
